Biohacking is not only for the ‘richie-rich’.

Nor is it only for those who want to live forever.

Biohacking is for everybody. It is something all of us must be doing, for a very compelling reason.

Here’s what longevity scientist and CEO of MapMyGenome, Anuradha Acharya told me:

I think the purpose of biohacking is more to increase your health span, which basically means that you want to be healthy. So I know that I'm not someone who's going to live forever.

But I want to make sure that the time I'm living, I can do my own things. I don't become a burden to someone.”

Pretty much the Never Too Late mantra as well, I would say. And if you feel the same (which is probably why you are here), then you should tune into this episode of Longevity Shot.

But, before we move on, a caveat:

Here’s what you will not find in the interview: Pills, fancy diets, a list of superfoods or high-tech procedures that promise to extend your lifespan.

What you will get from this interview

  • Learn how to do a SWOT analysis of your health

  • Understand which hacks work, which don’t

  • Get your step by step guide to Biohacking

  • Get your list of 5 free science-backed Biohacks you can start with today!

That’s not all!

In the interview, Anu digs deep into the science of biohacking and her own lived experiences to share what she’s learnt along the way. Here’s some advice that stood out for me.

Biohacking 101: Lessons from an Expert

-Anybody can biohack - no medical or stats degree required, nor do you need to be as rich as Scrooge McDuck.

–Why should you Biohack? To increase your healthspan and live independently to an old age.

-But, basics matter. Biohacking works only after you invest in preventive healthcare.

-Yes, splurge on the fancy tech, but wear it with caution. Track your health data like your mutual fund NAVs. Look at long-term trends, not short-term spikes (unless you are training for sports or tracking for a health condition).

-Supplements are good. Bingeing on supplements is not. More is not merrier here. Consult a doctor. Take what you need and track how each supplement is affecting your body.

-You are a ‘Universe of One’. What works for the pretty little influencer may not work for you.

-Follow trending biohacks and untested longevity drugs at your risk. Recognise you are putting yourself in the position of a rat in the lab.

-Listen to your body.

-Get expert advice when biohacking. Your family doctor is a great place to start. Anu consults experts too!

-The best biohacks are free. These include: sleep, sunlight, hydration, stress management & breathing right.

-Lastly, consistency is boring. It is also the best biohack. Doing what’s good for the body, every day can create massive long-term impact on energy, health and ageing.
